NPCIL Apprentice Selection Process 2026-26
The selection of candidates for Trade Apprentice, Diploma Apprentice and Graduate Apprentice positions at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) will be done purely on the basis of academic merit.
Here’s how the selection process works:
1. Merit-Based Shortlisting
Candidates will be selected based on the marks obtained in their qualifying examination:
- ITI for Trade Apprentice
- Diploma for Diploma Apprentice
- Graduation (Degree) for Graduate Apprentice
No written test or interview will be conducted.
2. Priority Order For Selection
If the number of eligible candidates is more than the available seats, NPCIL will follow a specific order of preference:
- Land Losers – Those whose land was acquired for KKNPP
- Local Residents – Candidates from Radhapuram Taluk
- District-Level Preference – Candidates from Tirunelveli District
- State-Level Preference – Candidates from Tamil Nadu
- Others – Applicants from other states
In case two candidates have the same percentage of marks, the candidate older in age will be given preference.
3. Medical Fitness
Final selection is subject to the candidate being medically fit. A standard medical examination will be conducted as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
4. Police Verification
Being a high-security area, Police Verification Certificate is mandatory for all selected candidates before starting the training.
5. Training Duration And Terms
- The training period will be for one year only
- No employment guarantee is given after completion
- Selected candidates must sign a contract of apprenticeship
- Withdrawal during training is allowed only for valid, uncontrollable reasons
- In case of withdrawal or absenteeism, the candidate may have to refund the training cost and stipend
