Types of Update Aadhaar
- Online Aadhaar Update: You can update your Address and perform Document Updates (Proof of Identity/Address) directly through the myAadhaar Portal.
- Offline Aadhaar Update (Center Visit): Mandatory for Biometrics (photo, iris, fingerprints), Mobile Number, and Email ID.
- Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU): Required for children when they reach the ages of 5 and 15.
Online Update Process (Address & Documents)
- Login: Access the myAadhaar portal using your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Select Service: Choose “Update Aadhaar Online” for address changes or “Document Update” to refresh your identity and address proof.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of valid supporting documents (e.g., Passport, Voter ID, Ration Card).
- Submit: After review, submit the request. You will receive an Update Request Number (URN) to track your status.
Important Deadlines and Fees (as of 2026)
- Free Online Update: The document update service is free of cost on the online portal until June 14, 2026.
- Service Fees: Updating documents at an Aadhaar center typically costs ₹50.
- Update Frequency: Residents are encouraged to update their documents at least once every 10 years to ensure continued accuracy.
- Tracking Status: You can check the status of your request at the Aadhaar Update Status page using your URN.
